Make incident response a habit

A response plan is most useful when the team has practiced it. Clear ownership and reliable evidence make it easier to act under pressure.

  1. Give the response an owner

Define who triages, coordinates, and communicates. Keep contact paths and access to essential systems current.

  2. Practice a small scenario

Practice a bounded scenario, such as a leaked deployment token. Walk through containment, recovery, and evidence preservation.

  3. Put the lesson back into the work

After an incident or exercise, capture specific improvements with owners. Feed relevant changes into code, pipeline checks, and monitoring.
