Build a useful security gate

A security gate should express a release decision people understand. A scanner produces findings; the team still needs a policy for what those findings mean.

  1. Begin with a clear signal

Start with a small set of high confidence checks, such as exposed secrets or newly introduced critical risks.

  2. Triage with context

Consider reachability, exposure, and business impact when triaging findings. Record exceptions with an owner and expiry.

  3. Make a failed check useful

Make failures easy to understand: show the location, the risk, and a practical next step. Track recurring false positives.
